The Family

Autism interrupts the family system
A child with special needs presents his family with a situation that is unfamiliar, difficult, stressful and worrisome. Suddenly, the family system is interrupted.
Many parents find themselves involved in a crisis that shakes their very essence. Their lives change and in a short space of time the well-being of the entire family is affected. The parents’ energies are directed at finding solutions as their special child becomes the family’s focus, while the other children in the family become confused, and siblings begin to feel a strong need for attention.
The treatment program at Mifne includes the entire nuclear family whose participation in the treatment process nurtures their special family member. Parents begin to interact differently as their relations with him and their other children start to change.
The program includes counseling for parents, training in RPT with observational and hands on experience with their child, feedback from their sessions together, and individual, couple and family therapy sessions, according to the specific needs of the family.
